Kevin Johnson Declares Candidacy for Georgia State Representative House District 58Kevin Johnson's
"A Better Community" campaign for Georgia State Representative
House District 58 will focus on policies and issues that have a profound
impact on the quality of life in the district.
Johnson, an East Atlanta resident, has extensive political experience. Most recently, his work on a state and federal level to reform unfair credit card practices has been praised locally and nationally. In May, his efforts led to legislation in the Credit CARD Act of 2009 (signed into law by President Obama), which addresses unethical consumer profiling in communities like East Atlanta. Furthermore, Johnson has worked on major political campaigns, including a congressional campaign and President Obama's presidential campaign. Johnson's campaign "A Better Community" will focus on policies and issues that have a profound impact on the quality of life in the district, including public safety, community revitalization, education, and employment. "As demonstrated by my recent success in fighting companies that limit the growth and potential of this wonderful community, I am committed to providing a better quality of life for everyone. Based on the main concerns expressed to me by residents, I will focus on providing resources and solutions—both public and private—to reduce crime, to enhance community revitalization, to improve schools, and to create jobs. Working together, we will continue to bring about positive change in our community," said Johnson.
"When I am in office, House District 58 will be one of the best resources for constituent services. Residents will be well-informed about services offered and well-connected to resources available," said Johnson. Johnson resides in East Atlanta with his wife, Deidre Turner Johnson. He is the president and founder of Johnson Media Inc. and has served in leadership roles with various nonprofits, including Big Brothers & Big Sisters, The Hope House, and The Atlanta Business League. He is also a member of the 2008 L.E.A.D. Atlanta Class of Leadership Atlanta. To learn more about Johnson and the campaign, visit VoteKevinJohnson.com.
