The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Atlanta Branch will host the 2011 Jondelle Johnson Freedom Fund Dinner Saturday, September 17, 2011. Event honors Ron Clark, Elisabeth Omilami, and Dwight Howard.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Atlanta Branch will host the 2011 Jondelle Johnson Freedom Fund Dinner Saturday, September 17, 2011. This event will honor three people who are actively involved in the community. Well known educator, Ron Clark, will receive the President’s Award. Clark, is the co-founder of the Ron Clark Academy, and author of the new book, The End of Molasses Classes:

ONE Musicfest 2011 Headlined by Grammy Award Winning songstress Chrisette Michele

And included performances by Tortured Soul,  The Cool Kids, Anoop Desai, The Pharcyde, Anthony David, Foreign Exchange, and more!

One of the largest indoor/outdoor music festivals, ONE MusicFest attracted over 4,000 people for more than 12 hours of non-stop live music at the Park Tavern on Saturday, August 27th. The concert showcased artists like Chrisette Michele, Tortured Soul, The Cool Kids, Anoop Desai, The Pharcyde, Anthony David, Foreign Exhange and "Searching for The One" winner, Kyron Leslie.  Summer's most anticipated concert series in the South East region, also featured culinary artist Chef Romero's "Crab & Shrimp Festival"  .  The Atlanta Music Project served as this year's philanthropic partner, collecting used instruments on-site for children in need.

The critically-acclaimed adult musical Cheezecake Boiz and the pa presented by Da Seed Company, starring National Recording Artist Tony Terry and introducing Lauren Jones as the “pa” and featuring Angelica Perez, Queshan Hayes, David Massey and Anthony Davis, returns to the 14th Street Playhouse September 3rd and 4th.  Created, directed and produced by Towanda Kilpatrick, who created and toured two highly-successful national theatrical plays, debuted Cheezecake Boiz and the pa in Atlanta on June 25th to rave reviews prompting a demand for additional dates and a larger stage.  “I am so excited and amazed how well received the musical was and the buzz it has created.  We were asked to bring the production back by popular demand, to a larger stage and for a longer run.” Kilpatrick has received inquiries from major sponsors to tour the musical nationally and the possibility of signing on a Tony Award Winning Director and Choreographer.

Dorsey Levens, former NFL player and Super Bowl champion, partnered with Tiffany Brown’s A Higher Calling Theatre Company for Stripped, a follow up to their 2010 hit play, "Torn".
