V-103’s Princess Monique is a “Jill of many trades! “ Not only is she one of Atlanta R & B station V-03’s radio personalities, she's also a filmmaker. On April 18, 2013, she'll put the talents together as host of WIFTA's Short Film Showcase.
V-103’s Princess Monique is a “Jill of many trades! “ In addition to be one of Atlanta R & B station V-103’s radio personalities, she is also an accomplished filmmaker. And on April 18, 2013, Princess Monique will be putting these two talents together as she hosts the Women In Film & Television Atlanta (WIFTA) Short Film Showcase.
The WIFTA Short FIlm Showcase, as is tradition, will highlight the work of talented filmmakers throughout the Southeast and beyond. WIFTA opened the call for entries in late February and closed the call on April 4, 2013. Aligning with WIFTA’s mission to support the work of women in the entertainment industry, a woman will have played a significant role in the making of the short film; for instance, a woman may be the lead actress or have served behind the scenes as the director, producer, writer of director of photography.The filmmakers whose films will be screened are expected to be announced by mid-April.
The 2013 WIFTA Short Film Showcase will be held April 23, 2013. A pre-screening reception will run from 5:30p - 6:30p at Apres Diem. The screening will begin at6:30p at Landmark’s Midtown Art Cinema. The venues are located side-by-side at 931 Monroe Dr. NE Atlanta, GA 30308. Tickets are $10.00 for WIFTA members and $12.00 for non-members and can be purchased online at http://www.WIFTA.org/
About Princess Monique
Princess Monique has come a long way from growing up in the inner city of Cleveland. She has traveled the world as a high fashion runway and print model for Ebony Fashion Fair and Jet Magazine and she has made several national television appearances, including guest starring as an actress on hit sitcoms, Clueless, The Steve Harvey Show and The Parkers. Princess also has years of experience behind the camera producing and directing in many genres including television, film, commercials, PSA’s and music videos. Her first film, The Call, won nine awards from film festivals in San Francisco, Hollywood, Los Angeles, New York, Cleveland, Denver and Atlanta. Her most prestigious award was presented at The San Francisco Black Film Festival where she not only won 1st place for best short, she received the top honor, The Melvin Van Pebbles Award, for best overall film and best director.
In addition to keeping busy with her nonprofits and her work at V-103, Princess is making big strides in her TV/Film production career. Her current projects include the feature film The Seasons of Love and an educational short film series focusing on the top core issues of America’s teens called 911 Films. Plus, Princess is in pre-production on two Atlanta, GA based television shows: Take Action, a show designed to motivate others to do their part to increase awareness and education on HIV/AIDS, and Guess Who’s In Town, a show that showcases Atlanta natives that are doing great things in the community as well as those who visit for various reasons. She will produce, direct and host both of those shows.
