Navy SEALS Push CIAA Athletes To Get Mentally Tough

Five teams of Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association athletes hit the water and scaled walls as part of their training in April at the U.S. Navy SEALs’ Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base in Virginia Beach, Va.

Chowan University, St. Paul’s College, Bowie State University, St. Augustine’s College and Virginia State University players all got a taste of the rigors of training with the SEALs in a 12-foot-deep, Olympic-size pool and on the Naval Special Warfare Group 2 Confidence Course, a 17-station land obstacle course.

Study Shows Moms are Fueling Youth Sports Success

As youth athletics have become more widespread, competitive and time consuming, moms have elevated their game to support their kids in sports. Seventy percent of moms are raising kids in competitive sports, creating a group of “Sports Moms” nearly 13 million strong, according to the “Gatorade Sports Moms Study,” a poll of 900 moms of middle and high school students.

African Americans have made incredible strides in many areas, but generational wealth is one in which we need to play catch-up. There is an often-overlooked, simple way to build generational wealth for pennies a day. 

Generational wealth consists of assets, holdings and monies that are passed on from one offspring to the next, and built upon by each generation.  A family business is the first thing that comes to mind when many think of generational wealth. Wine vineyards, orange groves, tobacco farms, and sugar plants started by ancestors centuries ago continue to be passed down to children who build upon them and pass them along to their offspring in the form of inheritances.

Actors Hosea Chanchez and Lamman Rucker Join McDonald's Movement Showcasing Real Men Making a Difference

McDonald's continues to celebrate the achievements of students and alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with its sponsorship of the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) tournament.  This year, McDonald's brings the Men of McCafe Casting Call to the tournament Fan Experience for three days of action-packed activities and appearances by Men of McCafe celebrity ambassadors.
