The 12th annual “PEACHTREE VILLAGE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL” ended on a great note! Capping the 3 day event with “An Inspirational Award Brunch” which took place at the swanky REVEL!
Co-founders of PVIFF, Len Gibson and James “JB” Brown were great & gracious host as they intermingled with the crowd full of celebrities as well as movers & shakers in the film industry. It was a very beautiful atmosphere with beautiful people as they were networking with one another.
When the event commenced, Bow Legged Lou of the legendary group Full Force emceed it with laughter, sincerity and passion. Legendary actors Keith David (Greenleaf), Clifton Powell (Friday series) and Blair Underwood (Set It Off) were celebrated with awards for the “GREAT” work they’ve put on countless films as each of theses men have over 25 plus years in the industry. Also, up and coming actors such Tobias Truvillion (Empire), Marc John Jefferies (Losing Isaiah) and Lil Rel Howery (The Carmichael Show) were also honored for blazing a trail in the industry as they continue to work towards greatness in the industry.
Despite Clifton Powell, Keith David & Tobias Truvillion weren’t in attendance to accept their awards. They sent messages to thank the PVIFF team of honoring them for their tremendous work in the film industry. Meanwhile Blair Underwood, Marc John Jefferies and Lil Rel Howery were in attendance to receive their awards. Also each one of them imparted great knowledge of their perseverance in the industry despite the many pitfalls they’ve encountered.
Capping off the event, Desiree Underwood the wife of Blair Underwood; was honored with the North Star Award. For the 23 plus years they’ve been married, she has been the foundation for their family as Blair has worked countless hours, days, weeks or even months on films that have kept away from his family. A tear jerker ode from Mr. Underwood to his loving wife moved the crowd as the North Star award was presented to her.
Ricco Barrino (Fantasia’s little brother) belted out popular tunes with the 317 Band to end the show. With the event being such a success, I truly believe this will be the first of many of PVIFF Presents “An Inspirational Award Brunch,” that I’ll be attending
